i'm not sure what kind of advance we were running. i can't remember. we just set the timing so it ran good at about 300-3500 rpm. we didn't care if it idled good or not. the throttle was either "on" or "off". i understand where your coming from....i just thought i'd throw in my 2 cents some of you guys really know what the hell is goin on ;-)
