: I have a '71 4 Door 200 ci, and I can't get the oil pan off. I removed the stabalizer bar (broke a tie rod end in the process) and still couldn't get it out...I assume I'll have to pull all the steering stuff down there...I tried to get it off, and couldn't get any of it to budge...how do you seperate the ball joints? or is their an easier way to get the oil pan off (and back on)??
: The trick is to put a strain on the ball joint you're trying to get out (pry bar) and with the ball joint nut threaded almost all the way off, give it a hard rap with a 1lb ballpeen hammer. Sometimes several times. A pickle fork usually ruins the joint. I worked in a frontend shop for awhile a thats the easiest & quickest way without ruining the joint and threads.
