...What I did was unbolt the idler arm. This allowed me to swing the entire linkage down and out of the way. I was also able to keep my alignment settings since nothing was done to upset the adjustments. My '70 has manual steering, though, so I don't know how power would respond to this method. Good luck. BTW: when I cleaned the oil pan for repainting, I found a some welding bead on the bottom of the pan . It spelled out "ford sucks"!!! The pan had NEVER been off the car, which means it came from the factory like that! ...LOL

: I have a '71 4 Door 200 ci, and I can't get the oil pan off. I removed the stabalizer bar (broke a tie rod end in the process) and still couldn't get it out...I assume I'll have to pull all the steering stuff down there...I tried to get it off, and couldn't get any of it to budge...how do you seperate the ball joints? or is their an easier way to get the oil pan off (and back on)??
