and we've taken it to our local "mentors" for expert advice, I personally think the cam was advanced, it had DAMN good torque from idle to maybe 2k rpms, but it fell flat on its face after that. We've played with the timing, new carb, rebuilt the old one cuz the new one sucked serious stuff... new exhaust system... I wonder if Ford fooled with the deck height on 200s like they did 302s and 351s in the 70s?
when he got the car with the original engine, it ran 80-85 topped out, he tuned it and got 93 out of it, it saw 100 occasionally, but the humidity around here kills power seriously.

: ...any serious mechanical flaw. My 200/3-speed wouldn't go over 80 for some time. A little tuning of the carb, new vacuum lines, new points & plugs, and adjusted timing brought me up to 115. Highway mileage went from 20mpg to 26mpg (no, not at 115! more like 65). I would seriously go over that engine to find the problem. You ARE releasing the parking brake aren't you? ;-)

: : it topped out at 60 when I got it, I managed to get it up to 70 regularly, an all time high of 83 one time drafting an 18 wheeler downhill on I59-20. ran good before, but the reman was aparently a real shitty engine.
