: : ...and an IDIOT...I put discs on my '73 and the braking is THREE TIMES BETTER...Drums "fade" much more when they get hot, need periodic adjustment; when one is tighter than the other, the steering will pull to one side (scary) and they barely work at all when they get wet !!! Discs last longer too. Why do you think NO new cars are manufacured with drum brakes?!!!....Also with discs; the bigger-the better. That's why new cars have 15" and 16" and 17" wheels on them...to accomodate bigger brakes... DRUM BRAKES S U C K ! ! ! ! !

: : Your "WRONG" and wake up "KID" Someday You will really really know a little bit about what Your talking about!,cut the crap!

: : : After hanging around this board a while and having a little experience driving my comet, I decided to put in disc brakes. Everyone seemed to be behind that as an almost necessary step, and I definitely felt it when panic braking. So I did the swap, which was a pretty damn big deal for me, having no mechanical experiance at all. I took it to my mechanic after finishing, just because I really don't trust myself yet. He bitched me out for doing it, saying that discs aren't going to stop it any better, that I wasted my money, that doing it myself was like a medic doing brain surgery. I trust him, to an extent, because he's always done a good job, but on the other hand you guys really seem to know what you're talking about, and have more experience with mavs/comets. Not that I'm changing anything, I'd just like to put my mind to rest on the matter. opinions wanted. thanks
