I've got one Comet with a L6 and one with a 302. the 6 has drums, the 8 has discs. The 8 weighs a hell of alot more, and still stops better and faster. the 6 comet would pull to the left constantly, I don't have that problem now. I have never locked up the brakes on either car, I know my cars and can tell when its about to happen, and let off. Its not that hard to do. the 6 just plain didn't stop as well with drums. the only thing drums have over discs is when you're sitting at a redlight the drums tend to grab and hold better due to their design, the discs don't really. I noticed, while I was getting used to the discs, that it took a *little* more effort to hold the car at a complete stop.
also, the drums had a brake job done right, the discs had a shitty job done by the previous owner, the discs are more forgiving to inconsistancies.
