It is real easy to buy stripe kits and decals and make any car whatever you want. I made up a Shelby Maverick once! It now sets in a junkyard....and I am sure the stories and legends told about that car by the "uninformed" echo thru the woods.

Just be cautious....you might just have something though. Grabber Hood, V-8, AC....all sounds good.

: Hi everybody. This is my first post, so that's enough in the way of introductions. I have the opportunity to purchase a Maverick but I'm afraid its' owner is mistaken about the car's identity. To me, it is a strange beast. It has federal bumpers (even though he swears it's a 70 or 71 model). It's got factory air and a grabber hood with the dual scoops and contours. I've never seen one like this, but it's got GT emblems on each side of the hood bulge and on the rear between the tail lights. At first seeing the car (literally buried in head-high bushes) I had to work my way through the bushes to the back of the car (to see the tail lights) and make sure it was not a Comet instead of a Maverick. The color scheme is white with black stripes and a black hood decal. The side-stripes have a thin red strip above them. Please forgive my stupidity, as I have very limited experience with Mavericks. My very first car was a 75 Maverick Grabber with a 302 auto... I've been mourning its' passing since 1988. The guy wants $700.00 for this car (it comes with a plain-jane Maverick for extra parts). The car itself is rust-free, with very little body work needed. So, can anyone tell me what this car is? Is there such a critter as a Maverick Grabber GT? And is this a worthwhile venture back into Maverickdom (for $700.00)? It sounds good to me, but I just want some expert opinions. Thanks a bunch in advance!

: Earl P
