Okay...TL, could you explain the total timing for me? I have my 289 set at 14/34. Don't remember why the 34. Now that I think of it don't remember why the 14. I do remember setting the timing for no knock in the motor. Also read somewhere that the initial timing advanced lowers the power band of the cam. Please help!!!


: It depends on the altitude you're at. The stock setting is 6-degrees BTDC, 38 degrees total. I'm at over 6000 feet so mine is set at 14-degrees BTDC and that's perfect for up here. I got my pointer at the junkyard real cheap...
