I hear ya! way back when in the 70's when my mav wasnt so old and my old man wasnt so old a buddy of mine told me he saw my car go thru the gears and it really got a good 3rd gear scratch. I told him that i hadnt driven my car in a couple of weeks ( why i cant remember) but i thought I did hear it start up one morning when i was sleepin in. Turned out to be my old man and running her thru gears on a whim. Luckily i still have my Dad but he is old and frail. I think i will remind him of his little trip in my mav next time i see him :)
: : Man , we all have our reasons for messing with these cars , I have 16 years worth of memories invested in mine starting with my dating days fresh out of high school.
: The car is simply NOT for sale, When someone trys to make me an offer for it , I tell them " for what you`d have to give me to get this car, you could buy 3 or 4 cars that where alot nicer!" You have one of the best reasons I have ever heard to keep and restore a car ,dont spare any work or expense when it comes to that car. It would definately make the "old guy " proud.
