Well, Alice was in pretty bad shape, but at least she was drivable (sort of!) and I told him that if he EVER wanted to sell her come to me first... nearly a year later she was stitting in front of his apartment waiting to be towed off... breaks were GONE, flat tire, expired tabs and a miriad of other problems... I begged Roy for THREE days to let me buy her... I PROMISED that I would restore her and ONE DAY she would be a show quailty car... Hell, I'd even GIVE her back to him in a few years when I graduated from school and bought a new car...
6 months later "it was one of those things"... we've all been there... At first I wanted to just sell the car... (hell, I'd put nearly 1500$ in to it, why just junk it? Though I came close!) I decided that REVENGE was spelled R E S T O R E and promptly started searching for body parts in earnest... $450 later (with an erl schibe paint job) I suddenly realized thatI had a "new" car... the importance of "getting even" began to fade into the background... Now I adore MY car... I am always looking forward to undoing the damage done by years of abuse and neglect... Last year someone offered me $3000 for her... No sale No way! If that 302 comes through that puts me 2 years ahead of schedual... some day it's gonna be a $2000 paint job, the works... way beyond "book value"... I don't care. It is nice to see that there is a growing appreiciation for Mavericks but even if they become as collectable as the 57 Chevy's I'll never part with my girl...
