the gear was most likely hot when it was put therfore it needs to be hot to come off as well... go to your local "El Cheap-o Auto" parts store and they will generally loan you the 3 jawed gear puller for a deposit of the value of the puller (usually $20)
I seriously doubt that you will get the gear off by prying on it, they are usally made to a light press fit and it can only go on and come off if it is perfectly straight

: I've got a 351w and I'm changing the timing chain. If you're familiar with them, the the big gear goes on the camshaft and the little gear goes on the crank. I've got the big gear and the chain off, but the little gear seems stuck. Does it just get pried off? I don't see any way to use a wheel puller. By the way happy Easter, and thanks for any help.
