: its got a new idler arm, the old one was fine however. The pitman arm is kind of a mystery to me. I know what one is on a regular car, but this one is weird as hell. looks like the power steering piston with control thingy is the substitute for a pitman arm on this car. There is no easily identified pitman arm unless it comes from above, you can't see one from below. Does it tie into the powersteering pinston control thingy I mentioned earlier? I am an experienced mechanic, but I haven't done much front end work to Mavericks and Comets, not any worn out parts according to the alignment shop, but like I said in my other post, I will go somewhere else. either way, I'm getting sick of having it aligned every few months, I'm getting it fixed one way or another. Any recommendations on a place that sells cheap new comet front end parts?

Don't know on the Comet parts. Have you tried Auto Krafters, or a local parts store?

On my 72 Mav with p/s there is a controller that attaches to the drag link. The pitman attaches somewhere in there. don't have it in front of me here. I really never saw the need to replace the pitman arm. It is just a piece of steal.

How is you steering adjustment. I think you just need to bring it to another shop. Either that or find out from the shop that you have been bringing it to exactly what keeps needing adjustment. That should narrow it down a bit.
