The seal used in early 302's have a 2 piece rear main seal (or a stupid rope seal) , and it is NOTHING like changing a front seal. If your really lucky, you can drop the oil pan, pull off the rear main cap, and slide the top half of the seal out. If not, your gonna have to drop the crank a bit while its in the car (not recommended) or pull the whole motor. You can get the crank machined for a 1 piece seal, but if you use the 2 piece, make sure to offset them a bit and use silicon where they butt together, this helps them seal better.
Yeah, front seal repair kits are cool, but I'm sure they don't make them for the rear.


: Pretty cheap, but it will be a pain. You'll need to find out what size it is and all that...i don't know that offhand.
