I agree with TL on the diff. But i can tell you I have been running a 350 hp 302 with that rear end but I have changed to Zoom gears. Also I am running a 4 speed and its been together in that combination since 1978 and no problems. But i will admit i did toast the original gears with a milder 302 in 1977.
: Yoy do not need a 9-inch on a Maverick unless you're running over 300 horsepower or a 4-speed trans... The 8-inch is plenty strong and lighter in weight...The 7.5-inch/4-lug is a big No-no...
