Yes, you could get a manual transmission with a floor shift.

I have only seen an auto floor shifter, this shifter has a bracket that screws to the transmission tunnel(a hole is cut in the top of the tunnel, factory dimples mark the spot), the shifter is connected to the transmission by a rod which is adjustable, I don't know if all Maverick floor shifters are the same as I have only seen them on '74 GRABBERS (mine)
: : I was refering to a std. floor shifter then i got to thinking about it and em now wondering if this was ever an option ( because I have never seen it personally) on mavs or comets in the 70's
