It would be a great help if you could have someone look at the cam that could tell you the conditon of it if your not sure. I do know this much, I was always told to buy new lifters for an old cam(better safe than sorry), even if I bought the cam from a friend. Also, an RPM cam will make a BIG difference in power if you currently have a stock cam. If you currently have a stock cam, I would highly recommend replacing the valve springs also, due to the valve lift of the RPM cam.
