: First of all, take the vinyl top off yourself. Remove the trim around it and then strip it off. It will save you some cash. Then when you get it painted have them mig weld the holes shut that are left from the trim. Then CAREFULLY remove anything that you don't want overspray on. If you want to save yourself a couple hundred dollars, get some friends to come over and prep the car before you take it in. (sand the car down to the factory primer) some paint guys prefer to prep the car themselves though, so ask first. As far as where to get it painted, DON'T go to Maaco. They painted my car just three years ago and now it looks like crap...faded really bad, etc. What I suggest is to go through the phone book in your area. Find someone out in the middle of nowhere that has a small buisness. Ask to see pictures of some of the work he/she has done. I found a guy that has painted a lot of prize winning street rods, etc. and has the best prices I can find. He works out of the garage behind his house, and does excellent work. If you go to a chain you'll get a bad price and lousy work.

: : I was wondering where I should go get my Mav painted? Is there any other paint chains other than Maaco? What would look good on a Mav, I was thinking about bright red with 2 white racing stripes or Deep blue with 2 white racing stripes? How much do you think they would charge to get the vinyl top taken off also? I'm looking to spend around 7 to 8 hundred dollars.
