I think you probably just need to dump a couple ounces of gasoline down the carb and your carb will reprime itself. Please use caution while doing this, as I find the easiest way to do this is by pouring the gasoline in a small container ( not adviseable to use gas can) and simply dump the gas into the butterfly area with choke open. Also starting fluid usually will not run long enough for a carb to actually prime itself. I just started a long dormant 51 Studebaker yesterday and the owner didnt believe me when i said the starting fluid would not allow enough time to prime the empty carb. So after about 5 minutes of doing things HIS way we resorted to my method and the car fired and purred like a kitten in a manner of minutes :)
: I am in the service and I have my 72 Maverick sit for two months while I was at sea. I returned and tried to start my car and it wouldn't catch. I sprayed some engine starting fluid in the "carb" and it would start but then die........i was told it could be the fuel pump, any ideas? Is there a site to see the engine? diagrams? I know virtually nothing about cars......... Thanks!
