The best thing to do is squirt a lot of Liquid Wrench, or WD40 on it and let it sit for a day, then get the right sized socket (no crescent wrenches) and put it on a long ratchet or breaker bar, and it shouldn't round off the nut. If a ratchet won't fit, use a box wrench with a bigger wrench on the end for leverage. Sometimes the whole stud will pull out of the manifold. These, and leaf spring U-bolts are very annoying when they get rusty.
