I don't know if a bad regulator could "take out" your new alternator, but it wouldn't hurt to buy a new one, they're only about $10
: I'm putting a new alternator in my '72 and this guy told me that if I'm doing that I should put a new Voltage Regulator in it at the same time. He said even if the regulator is fine now it could die and take the alternator with it. He said it's common with Fords. Any thoughts? Is this guy just a Commie Ford hater? Also, any words of wisdom before I dive in because the alternator swap is gonna happen tonight. Thanks
