The 5.0 will be stock so it will not be "high" performance and my wife will be driving it a lot. Thus, I wondered if the power brakes would be "easier" to "use". She likes the modern comforts like power steering and air which I currently have in this car. I guess what I'm asking is will the manual discs feel like the manual drums as far as the amount of brake pressure one needs to apply to stop the car? thanks again.

: ...You get better brake modulation with manual setup. Ford has notorious delicated brakes & it is hard to sense impending lockup. That may be fine in a Crown Vic, but it is way overboosted for any performance application. As for the springs, I believe the 6cyl ones are too soft even for the sixes. The extra weight of the v8 would be too much. You're on the right track with the suspension travel issue. When the springs are already partly compressed at rest, you may have coil bind on full bump. If you want to lower the front, there are better ways to go.

: : TBR,
: : Several people I have talked to have indicated that the manual disc brakes are "better" than the power disc brakes. What is your opinion and why? Is it simply weight? Also, did you suggest the front springs because of a switch to the V-8? I'm performing the same swap (86 5.0 into original 200 6cyl) and I was wondering which springs work the best. I like the front end low! I currently have a V-8 parts car so the V-8 springs are not a problem. Will the 6cyl springs not have enough travel with the heavier V-8? thanks
