:just from exsperience with 302`s, i`d suggest going with an 87 to 93 302HO, with many reasons. it is a roller motor that comes basically race ready. it has a steel crank, forged pistons,and roller lifters. produces good clean power that you can really abuse. put a dual plane intake on it with a 650 holley and go. 86`s are roller motors to, but the heads aren`t as good. put a T5 tranny with 373 gears behind it, and you have a nice performance machine. with an exsperianced driver behind the wheel, running with slicks, should put you in the mid. to low 13`s. basically what i have told you should cost around $500. some people spend $2000 or better to get there cars in the mid 13`s.
