Well, to be done "properly" it would require a different center link, the manual cars used a different one. I have seen adapters offered in Mustang Catalogs for the very purpose you speak of, it eliminates the control valve on a power steering center link. I haven't tried it or know of anyone who has, but I thought I'd pass along the info...in fact Mustang & Ford magazine has an advertiser offering one on page 10 of the August 99 issue...yes, the issue with the 427 SOHC (!!!) in a '74 Maverick. Please excuse any drool or spittle that may be puddling around me...
