...I also had an annoying squeak that I just couldn't get a handle on. I greased the ball joints, tie rods and the upper a-arm. It would go away for awhile & then come back with a vengeance! I replaced the upper a-arm pivots, assuming they were the culprits after 100,000+ miles. Wrong! Ultimately, I got under the car and pushed the chassis up and down with one hand (damn those sixes are light) and touched each component with the other hand. I found the biggest vibration cam from the sway bar. As it turns out, the squeak came from the polyurethane sway bar bushings!! A shot of lube and the noise stopped, but I have to do it every 2 months, sooner if it rains.
Lessons learned:
1. Don't assume anything (I keep having to relearn this one..lol).
2. If you buy poly bushings don't get anything but the graphite ones for rotating parts.
