it would take a little more severe setup in the 289 to match the 302, but the revs go higher with a little less effort. Just a preference. For my everyday car, I do believe I would prefer the added torque of the 302, but for a weekend racer "play car", I'm aiming for the 289, but I'm not decided on either just yet...
as always, money talks, I have two 302's and no 289's...
