I agree extended shackle bars do look pretty lousy, but that is my opinion and some may think they look great. I have had air shocks on my 2 mavs for 25 years and the steering does get funny especially at high speed if too much air is in them. I have found that if the ass end is up in the air you cant even see a car behind you at a stoplight. But jacked up cars was the fashion in the 70's and now I just run about 40 psi in mine and actually mine sits level. Also at that psi I have run well over 100 mph ( drag strip only) well mostly ;) and have not had any steering problems.
: To be honest there are better ways of lifting the tushy... The first is to get better springs (on my list of "to do") and a larger rear end 9and If I can ever get that doner Mav to my place you BET I'm swiping that off of it!)...
: That's the BEST way....
: Another way is (ducking for cover!) air shocks BUT I've been TOLD they CAN wreck havoc with your front end control...
: The Pros and cons of "Helper springs" have also been discussed BUT I would suggets the first method over all...
: All in all I would PERSONALLY avoid "lift kits"... I've seen them on Rustangs and Novas and to be honest they look rather cheap and tacky.... (If you mean those extra bracket things that stick halfway out of the back YARK!)
