your 289 heads aught to have a little smaller chamber givine u a little more compression ,thus giving u more low rpm torque and a little mre hp.
these shouldnt have any bumps in the exahast ports but the porst ar still a little borderline on size . i use a 25000 rpm straight die grinder with a carbide router for ruffing them and drum sander for finishing. (it does suck though) it takes me about 3 to 4 hours a head..
i usually just gasket match the ports and intake.the uxahast arnt to bad
but the intake runners are long and i have a long rod i made for doing them .just polishing them works good if u cant open them up.
watch tht when they put the big valves in tht the opened the port under the seat up to (iv seen this happen) the port has to be big enough
to feed the valves also. just look down the port and imagine your air at 100 miles an hour, and see if u could make it through there without getting the hell beat out of ya!!
