Thank in advance for your help. The factory rearend were 8". The junkyard one is probably a 8.8. An 8" is not as strong, heavy and as big as a 9", but with the right parts it can take a lot of abuse. Gear selection as the only restiction. I know of a Black 70, 302 Mav. that runs 10.85 at the drags and uses a 8" with no problems at all.
