I used the Competition Engineering "bolt in" connectors from Summit ($86.00). I called Competition Eng. and asked them which connector was better (bolt-in or weld-in). To put the weld in connectors, you need to cut up the floor pan. The bolt in units did not require cutting the floor pan. However, you can weld the bolt in connectors. To do so, you need to do some modifications to the rear of the connector. Minor stuff, but time consuming. Also, the front of the connector was designed to attach to a wider sub-frame than that of my 1970 Mav. I had to cut and re-weld that area. Without a good grinder, metal jig saw, and a mig welder the project would have been impossible.

As for making them yourself, it is definately possible if you want to take the time to measure and fabricate the connectors. Money-wise, it would have been cheaper, but with my lack of spare time, I was better of modifying the Competition Eng. connectors.

Let me know if you want more details on how I modified the front and rear of the connectors. When modifying the connectors, I also attached my driveshaft loop to it. It's the perfect secure location and allows for easy installation and removal.
