I just did my floors this weekend. I stripped out all the old stuff first. Then I took a wire brush to all the surface rust and a Scotch Brite pad to the rest. I had two very small rust holes so I hit them with the welder. Then I used some acid to eat away all the rust that may have been left behind. After cleanup I did use the Extend rust to primer stuff and then hit it all with some undercoating. It will of course be covered by carpet, but it looks good now and it keeps it nice and dry. I've done this to another car and it keeps a lot of heat out along with some noise. All said and done it only cost about $13. Good luck.
