: I got a quote for $280 for duals on a 302 with Flowmaster mufflers and header collecters included. Shop around--go to all the Mom and Pop type places.

:
: : I think your exhaust shop is blowing smoke! I only paid $500 for a custom built DUAL exhaust system! The parts for your 6 cyl single exhaust should be available from Walker or another non-Ford vendor. You could lose the resonator without a big increase in noise.

: : As far as installing speakers, yes, you have to remove the back seat. Start by removing the bottom cushion - push in on the front of the cushion and apply pressure towards the back of the car while lifting up slightly. It should pop right out. Next look below the back cushion and you'll see 2 screws (I think they're 5/16). Remove these and lift the cushion straight up and out. With the cushion removed, you'll have access to the side panels. There will be a philips screw up high on the door jamb, and one back towards the rear window. Remove these and the side panels should come away from the car, but the seat belts will hold you up. If you're just fishing wires through, don't bother removing the seat belts from the panels, it's kind of a pain. As for the package tray, you'll see 2 retainers held on by a small sheet metal screw. Remove these and the package tray should slide straight out, provided there aren't speakers in it already.

: : Hope this helps...

: : : i need to replace the exhaust on my '75 mav, it has a 6-250". i tried to get it done but the local shop wanted $500+ to do it because the parts were obsolete. anyone know where to get the pipes and things. how bad would the noise be if i took out the resonator and put in a straight pipe??? and what is the best setup for power/noise control/ budget??? Also does anyone know how to get the backpanel off to put in back speakers or the side panels to run the wires?? do i have to take the back seat out?? and where can i find a good manual for a 75 mav?? i have a chiltons but its generic for all midsize fords.
