yes and no, they do give you more protection, but the cost of syntehilic oil adds up to the additives, just use syn. oil just not in a BRAND new engine let it break in first.
Racers use it for more horsepower and protection, syn oil has been around since world war 2, Germans use it in airplanes and tanks, you're not going to see 50% mileage increase but you might see 5% and your engine will run a little better,
