They are great engines. My mother drives a 1988 Turbo Coupe and it has 90k and is fast and gets great mileage.
The problem is a Maverick never housed the 2.0 or 2.3 making engine mounts a difficulty. It would have to be completely fabricated.
It'd make more sense to go V8, but I'd be cool to see a Turbo 2.3L with a 5-speed in a Maverick, a great daily driver.
For Wow factor, it'd work great, but it'll be as hard as putting in a V6 out of a Super coupe. b/c of no mounts, etc.

: I'd like to swap in a later model ford motor into my '73 Mav for reliability and "wow factor" purposes.

: Has anybody tried putting a 2.3L 4cyl turbo from a T-bird turbo coupe into a maverick or comet? I saw the guy in hot rod mag who put one in a Pinto and I think it looks like a cheaper cool swap (no N2O though).

: The problem I see is the side mounted turbo hitting the pass side shock tower.

: Any thoughts.
