I worked at a quick-lube for two years that sold Castrol. It is always different looking. Castrol Rep told me Castrol is strictly a marketing company and does not make thier own oil. They buy from other companies and bottle & sell. This doesn't mean Castrol is not a good oil, but it couldn't be the best. I think any name brand (Havoline, Pennzoil, Mobil, Valvoline, etc) will do you well. -CP

: For the past 17 years...I've used Castrol GTX. On occasion I'll go with Mobil One Synthetic. Never, ever had any troubles with gum inside the motor. Run 10W40 in my 289 for the past 8 years. Good oil.

: : When I first got the car, I just changed the oil with the cheap stuff. I already knew that the engine was very grimmy. I also added a 2 dollar bottle of additive, that was about as thick as bubble gum. I figure that the heavy viscosity will help loosen up the grime. I'm gonna change the oil with the good stuff after about 1000 miles. As soon as the oil on the dip stick get's really dark. I'm going to pull the oil pan again, replace the Oil pump pickup and screen, and put new oil in it. Probably Castro GTX, my friend uses it in his Mitsu Eclipes, and it works great in his car. Anybody used the GTX in a 6 cyl?
