: for a torque strap, use a metal turn buckle from the hardware store, just bolt it to the head and then to the frame on the driver's side and adjust it to a tightness. Nylon will just stretch and be useless.

Just thinking about what engine i want to put in the mav again, and i had a few questions about the 351W. My understanding was that it fit (barely) into the engine compartment, stock exhaust and all. The guy i talked to did say that when you wound the engine up it hit the shock towers, so obviously i'll need some torque straps. Anything else that isn't going to allow a stock 351W to fit in a maverick? I've heard different accounts, but it seems to be a fairly straight-forward swap, and fairly reasonable.
