You have to remember the claimed 450 hp isn't just due to the stroker kit. I drooled over a 383 kit when I had my El Camino - couldn't afford it. The 450 hp is acheived by aluminum heads ($1000), good single plane intake, dual feed Holley, ignition, headers, and not to forget, the correct choice of cams. Putting the small block Chevy in the Mav is more problems than it's worth, and then when you're done, you have sort of a bastard step-child - neither Ford nor Chevy lovers care for that mixing of breeds; that alone can effect re-sale value. If ya want a Chevy motor, stick with a Nova or Camero - you'll probably feel better about the whole car when you're done.
