WD-40 has some minor lubricating properties but is not worth it's weight in salt as a lubricant if you want a true lubricant try 6-56 it is a much stronger lubricant/cleaner. It's sold at Benny's and Boating stores. How can I be so sure you ask? I work at a marine store and I know for a fact WD-40 has no business being used as a lubricant.
