: : Read the lable, nowhere is the word Lubricant mentioned, all WD-40 is, is a cleaner. That's why it stops things from things from making anoying noises (ie. Brakes make noise because of break dust, if you clean it the noise stops, without any Lubricant). I use a Product called 30/30 It's a Lubricant, Penitrant, and rust inhibitor all in one. It will loosen rusted bolts, and stop them from rusting, and will also get rid of anoying noises from just about everything. I use 30/30 because my friend gave me a can, and I know it works, but I've seen other brands that have the same stuff. I highly recommend getting a bottle, or a case. You'll use it on everything. One of the properties of a lubricant is to clean. You can clean your hands with motor oil also. Not all squeaks are caused by dust and dirt. Dry parts rubbing together will squeak.
: : Sorry, Just had to bring this point up. I hate when people use WD-40 as a lubricant, WD-40 is great stuff, I usually use it to get the grease off my hands, and to clean parts when I've taken them apart. But I always use a Lubricant after the parts are cleaned, if needed.
