Listen--just listen for a minute. I am NOT putting the 300/6 down. All I was really trying to say was that for the money and the effort, the 302 is the way to go. That's all. The V-8 is simply cheap, easy horsepower (and torque). We already know that a 300 can be modified to kick butt. But the fact remains that even though it produces good low-end torque, it's gonna start running out of "steam" in the midrange and die out in the high-end. Most of us who drive cars like a wide powerband. In a truck, it isn't necessary because a truck is made for hauling and pulling stuff around. It's not a hot-rod by design. I'm not putting down your efforts to experiment with a 300 in a Maverick. That's part of being a maverick--doing one's own thing. No problem. But if someone on a tight budget wants some power, the 302 is far more affordable. It really amazes me at how people will judge you by the comments you make and the opinions that you have...
BTW--What does CDL stand for?

: If you are from Colorado, how can you possibly doubt the pulling power of a 300 inline six truck engine? Living in the mountains, I would think that you would value the torque of this engine. Out in Pennsylvania, we certainly value this pulling power. As a result, I would love to see a 300 C.I. truck engine shoe-horned into a Maverick. If it can pull a dump truck, of course it will run 13's at the track. Just give it the right gears&some other mods.
