: : i need a wiring diagram for my 71 maverick with a 302 ive had some problems with the wiring and we dont have the diagram if anyone can get one to me somehow that would be great
: : thanks

: I've got a chilton maverick book that has a diagram, but is difficult to follow. When I replaced my 200ci with the 302 and electronic ign., etc., i found my fuse box was rusting and many of the fuse links as well (very common prob. for cars with fuse box in the firewall). I'll prob. catch some hell for what I am going to suggest, but what I did was take a trip to the junk yard and get the entire wire harness...it comes in two pieces 1.)prior to fuse block and 2.)after the fuse block. I only paid $15-25 bucks for the whole thing. NOW for the disclaimer. Make sure if you chose to follow this route, that you go over every inch of the wiring...looking for cuts, burns, etc. Although this doesn't guarantee the new wire set, it helps your odds...A LOT! Relatively speaking, this was much cheaper than "painless wiring", and I admit, I rushed my first attempt and made the mistake of choosing a donor with that stinking seatbelt safety system...beware of those...Depending on which half you replace (I recomend the whole set (because some are slightly different when it comes to the fuse block, and dash hook-up) it is actually not that difficult. I should know, I've done it at least twice...hahahahahha...hopefully others can also learn from my mistakes. Also, earlier model Mav. seem to be easier. Here in the Northwest, there doesn't seem to be a shortage of Mav.s in the junkyards. Something else you may want to consider is puting in in-line fuses instead of those 'fuse links', they are much better...just a thought though. Anyway, hope this helps some...good luck. By the way, lack of good ground wiring is probably the number 1 cause of electrical problems. Basically...you can't ground your engine too much.
