Welcome to the board, Tony.

Yes, you have a 1969 1/2 Maverick. As well as the ignition being placed on the dash, you should also have a metal horn "ring" instead of the horn buttons located at the ends of the steering wheel center piece. You should also have a metal data plate riveted to the driver's door instead of the data sticker in the door jamb. You will also have other differnt stickers under the hood and on the inside of the trunk decklid. These are some of the cosmetic differences between a 1969 1/2 and a 1970. 1970 also had the seperate non-retracting belt system.

(Now my pitch) You should really join the International Maverick/Comet Club. I recently wrote an article about the 1969 1/2 Mavericks in the club newsletter. If you would like more information, please email me.

: Hey I was just checking out a Maverick website that claimed that Ford made some 28k 69 1/2 Mavs and that you could tell if you had a 69 1/2 if: 1) you had the old style seat belt set-up (seperate lap and shoulder belts that are not connected together and that don't retract), 2) your ignition switch wasn't on the steering column but was down by the dash shelf between the radio and the steering column. Are these two things only true of 69 1/2s? If so, then my 70 is really a 69 1/2. Anyone know?
