I have one on my car. If you paint it to match the interior color (and do it right), it looks almost identical to a real dash pad. Just keep in mind that the "cap" is actually plastic, not vynl, so you can tell the difference if you touch it. However, with the proper plastic/vynl type paint, it will look pretty darn close to the real thing.
If you want to enter your car in a show, you may want to use the real thing. Otherwise, I'd vote for the cap.
