Ok here we go,
I have had three Canadian built mavericks all '74's and one American built '74 comet and one '74 maverick. The Canadian cars (built and sold in Canada)all had body buck tags mounted to the rad support upper right side close to the opening for the rad, my american cars didn't. The cars that where built at the St.Thomas plant where both built for Canada and the states, the practice of screwing this tag to the car my have been a practice only done at St. Thomas,it is nice for decoding options ie: floor shifter, cast alum. wheels etc.The sticker on the door post on Canadian built cars states that the car was produced by Ford of Canada, some cars may have a "Transport Canada" (goverment)sticker on them also. The lower fender brace is a tough call I have a Comet (American built, no comets built in Canada) with 40,000 miles on it and it has the "v" shaped supports and this car is orig. as for the American built Maverick it had the single steel support rod on both sides, maybe a design change? If you think of anything I forgot let me know, also since all my cars have been 74's this may not hold true for all years. Thanks Dave.
