I remember you said he came out of nowhere for the collision...something like that. On the other hand, if his insurance co. sent the letter, your best hope is your own insurance co., by the way , what did your insurance co. say? I hope you didn't send a nasty letter yet...your best course would be to contact the "investigating officer" and get his reasoning, he is probably your best bet, yet when it comes down to paying for the damages, insurance company lawyers have the ultimate say. I can give you a few details... (and no, I'm not really Hot headed enough to fly off the handel like that! It was just SOOO tempting!)
Firstly, As (at the time) it was so obviously his own fault we just exchaned addresses as a courtesy...(silly me! Thinking a erson might actaully be honerable!)
As my record was until this point rather clean I figured we'd leave the insurance co's out of it.. so my insurance is still blissfully ignorant.
The letter was from HIS insurance company... I was not contacted until this point by anyone else.
I was actually planning on cooling off for a couple of days and then writing a letter back requesting more info (such as when this supposed investigation occured and why they hadn't contacted me about it...)
