: The Ford 302 is a darn good motor! It is common, easy to get parts for and TOUGH! as to what kinda motor should you put in? How fast do you want and how much can you spend?
I've got a mild 302 in my 71 Grabber ( mild as in 4bbl hipro heads stock HO cam 1 7/8 headers w/ full 2" exhaust) and It can eat stock cameros and mustangs no problem. And thats with a 2.79 rear gear.
putting a small block in isnt too hard but there was a guy on this board not too long ago who builds I6 dodge motors and was interested in hearing from I6 250 mav owners on HiPro upgrades. I've seen a mustang run consistand 11's at the drag srtip with a 250.
: I am planning on doing an engine swap from a 250 to a... haven't decided yet... in my 74 Comick.
: When I was young I drove a Camaro w/ a 305, and a Dodge Aspen w/ a 318, both with 2bbl.s.
: How does a 302 2bbl. and/or 4 bbl. compare? It's been a long time since I've driven a V8, and this is my first Ford.
: Also, if I go with a 351W, how badly will that munch my m.p.g.s? It seems like a 302 Boss would be a good compomise between the two, gut I hear that they are fairly rare and expensive, true?
: I'm sick of losing races with my neighborhood ice cream truck! Plus, my girlfriend just bought a 69 Torino Cobra, and I am feeling a little castrated after driving her car...
: Thanks in advance!
: Shade
