Kelly,

I have a '76 Mav that had the same problem. Looks like the battery leaked and rusted out the entire battery box area. Instead of trying to "unbolt" the existing bolts holding the battery box in place (rusted and corroded), I simply took a Dremel tool with a grinder attachment after it. Took about 5 mins and they were Off! After that, used a cutting-wheel attachment to cut away all of the loose/rusted metal, treated what was left with Rust Away, let it dry and then fiberglassed the entire area (large hole) back to it's origional shape. It's been repainted now and you can't even tell! Anyways, thought I'd let ya know how I solved the problem.

: I need to replace my battery tray also so let me know if you find a supplier for this part. Of course I don't know how I'm gonna get the old one out as the two bolts are totally rusted and will not budge...

: : I have found a fender well (apron) whatever you call it under the battery tray to weld back into my 69 1/2 Mavrick but the actuall battery tray is about 40% gone. Does anyone know if any after market suppliers would carry it. ALso while I was looking I found a drop in the trunk gas tank which I believe was only used in this first year of mavrick. It does not appear to have any rusted areas but the junk yard sat the car on the ground with a muffler under it so it has a bend in it. I had my tank plasticoated inside so hopefully I wont need it. I have it and the sending unit if someone needs one. I have no idea what its worth, I am going to try to find someone who can take the bend out without putting a hole in the tank... I also will need one of those round emblems for the grill if there are any suggestions....Thanks Kelly
