: I agree with Ron, they are great at being scrap.
: Fast or no, they're still too boxie and graceless, not like the smooth curves of a Comet.
: Aside from that, Grandas are what displaced Maverick/Comets, so you're asking us to love the beast that killed our beauty.
Aw, come on now...They were reputedly styled after the Mercedes benz four door sedan. The square shape was intended to mimic the diginified style of a highly priced luxury cruiser. While I agree that they certainly lack the sporty appearance of the Mav/Comet, to compare the styling of the two cars is like comparing apples and oranges. The Granada/Monarch line was built to be an elegant, dignified luxury cruiser with all of the class of an LTD or Marquis, just on a smaller scale. I personally feel that these cars were special in their own way, and were extremely good-looking cars in an elegant, dignified way. They had the dignity of an LTD, and combined with their small size, seemed to me to be very handsome cars. As a result, they should be collected instead of being sent to the crusher. After all, doesn't a 351-powered Monarch make the ultimate sleeper? What could be better than beating a Camaro or Firebird while riding in refined comfort? As the owner of a '76 351 powered Monarch, what I love most about blowing other cars away in races is the looks I get! All in all, I think that Monarchs&Granadas deserve as much respect as Mavericks&Comets. I just hope that a few people who can appreciate a truly elegant car which also has some "guts" start saving these cars from the crusher. As Maverick/Comet fans, I really wish that we would help in causing this to occur.
