I'll bet that you have a 2.79 rear end or lower in your comet. while nice on the highway it sucks on the line (ya get beat by cameros and sh** like that)
chek inside the drives door on the rear post. there might still be the paper lamenated to it with the motor axeltranny and color codes from the build sheet. the 2.79 reae in will have a 3 in the axel code space. if you have any 2 digit code ther you have a "locker" rear end.
If you still have that code sheet in the car e-mail me the codes and I'll let you know exactly what you've got in it and under it.

(PS my dad just bought a 83 Dodge PU. solida as a rock w/ a slant 6 under the hood.): : I like Mopar(anthing between 1975 and 1981 in hate) and I like the mopar guy so be NICE.
: : However:
: : I do nt think that a bone stock 318 will eat a stock302 as much as claimed. In cars of equal weight and driver skill it would be a very close run none of this 3 second difference.
: : And I have beaten suped up 318's with my mild little 302
: N8,
: Since you are the only person who gave a halfway intelligent answer, I would like to continue comparing Mopars&Fords with you. First off: let me say that the 0-60 times I gave are not exaggerated, and that I expected more from my Comet. The 302 is such a smooth&quiet engine, and I really expected it to be faster. I was thinking of more like the 9-10 second range, and would like to see that dream come true. I believe that this car should be able to run 0-60 in 9-10 seconds in stock form, before beginning to modify. Because my Fury is still stock, obviously I would feel like an A-- adding a 4barrel&duals to the 302, just to make it as fast as my Fury. As a result, I would like to figure out what is wrong with my Comet. Because it is a very solid car, I would like to find out what is holding it back. Could it be the gearing in the rear end? What could be stealing the performance from this car? Would like to hear your thoughts....
