:The 4 bbl. is definatly in the works, but my budget keeps nagging at me; it's a one-step-at-a-time thing. Down the road I will eventually put in headers as well.
After it's all put together and painted I'll post a picture of it somewhere and let you guys see it.
What's wrong with "Comick?" The car is a 74 Comet, and will have a Grabber Hood and grill, along with an engine, tranny, and exhaust system taken from a Maverick. Therefore, it is half COMet and half maverICK. Compound this with the fact that I am an avid reader of Comic Books and will soon be involved in professionally producing them, and it makes the perfect name for my car.
Besides, doesn't "Alice and The Comick" sound like a great movie title?

Hey Comick (I'm still getting used to that word)! The rearends on those cars are the same (Ford 8-inch) so a swap is not necessary. You don't have to change the tranny either. As far as the carb; lose it--they're junk. Go with a 600cfm Holley 4bbl. and a good dual-plane intake manifold (I like edelbrock). While you have the motor out of the '77, you'd be smart to install a new timing chain with steel gears and even a Competition Cams "bumpstick". If you aren't ready to spend the money for all that just yet; at LEAST go with the 4bbl. and dual exhausts. You should DEFINATELY use the V-8 front springs and crossmember. I think it's great what you're doing and wish you the best of luck...

: : As I was researching what it would take to swap a v8 for my six, I discovered how in depth an operation it was. I was told I would also have to change the radiator, tranny, exhaust system, power steering brackets and the power steering linkage. I began to reconsider the swap until HUZZAH! I ran into a guy with a 77 Mav 4door with a 302. It looks like $#!T, but runs well. I bought it for $500, and am now ready to swap.
: : My questions are:
: : 1) Is there any other parts I should pull? Front springs? Rear End? etc.
: : 2)Are there any differences between 74 and 77 that will cause me problems?
: : 3)It has a special carb. called a "Ventuary", what's the word on those, good or bad?
: : 4) Does anyone want any parts from it before it finds its home at the junkyard (Yes, the dash pad is cracked)? I live in Eureka, at the very northern tip of California, so shipping may be expensive.
