The stock rearends have a little metal tag attached to one of the bolts. If the tag is missing, you'll either have to find the build sheet or take a look inside the rearend and divide the number of ring gear teeth by the number of pinion gear teeth. Both the '74 and the '77 Mavericks used the same 8-inch rearend. My '73 302 V8 Mav and The '75 Comet 250 I-6 both came stock with 3.00:1 ratio. I have a friend with a '73 302 Mav that has 2.79:1 gears. His car also has no A/C, no power steering, and no automatic trans (pretty stripped down). Hope this helps...
: How do you tell what gear ratio your rear end is? Will there be a difference between a 74 that came with a I6 and a 77 that came with a V8?
